28 Aug 2014 Naruto Uzumaki is back for another over-the-top adventure in the more visually spectacular and emotionally resonant than the previous films. In the words of the American film critic Bob Chipman “comics are weird”, and none-more-so than Junji Ito’s Uzumaki (Spiral). It is a fantastic work of art and Junji proves, what many people have long suspected, that if you want true horror you need an ex-dentist to create it.

Back in January, I read and reviewed Uzumaki, a Japanese manga by Junji Ito about a small town that comes under a curse centering the idea of a spiral. This review is for the entire series. Uzumaki is truly visceral horror, body horror so extreme you feel nauseous. It isn't even splatterpunk and there's little gore, but it's very distressing just the same. I couldn't even look at swirly for a couple of days after reading this.

Questo film è tratto da un manga Seinen di genere horror, scritto e diretto dall’acclamato artista Junji Ito. Film incerto e piuttosto traballante, questo Uzumaki.Sempre in bilico tra un bizzarro humor tipicamente nipponico e visioni agghiaccianti di mostruosità spiraliformi, Uzumaki e il suo macigno di noia trasportato con orgoglio innocente sulla schiena, arrancano e si trascinano avanti per novanta minuti scarsi.
